As with every parable of Jesus, you don’t want to try to assign a specific meaning to every detail of the story; instead, you have to concentrate on the point of comparison. In the case of this parable, it’s easy to get sidetracked on the matter of what exactly to say the denarius is. The same denarius is given to those who grumble and those who don’t. If we were supposed to understand the denarius to mean salvation, then that would mean that these grumblers are genuine disciples of Jesus and heirs
